NSDI Framework WFS - Gaia Gallery

A first draft of the NSDI WFS “Gallery” GSF is available for download at -

http://www.thecarbonproject.com/NSDIFrameworkService_GaiaGallery.gsf

The NSDI WFS Gaia Gallery lets anyone access the NSDI WMS, preview the area they want, and then access the WFS. The Gallery is loaded with an assortment of NSDI WMS layers and a single NSDI WFS layer with just 100 features. This way, both the WMS and WFS service URLs are preserved in the GSF and people can easily tailor their views to whatever they need.

Just let me know if you have any trouble with it or questions. Please note - You must have Gaia 3.1 installed to use the Gallery.

Please feel free to test the Gallery with Gaia 3.1 available at http://www.thecarbonproject.com/gaia.php

Gaia 3.1 was developed under the NSDI CAP.

Gaia Helps Minnesota WFS Testing

GML from the Minnesota WFS in Gaia 3.1

I'm pleased to report that the Land Management Information Center in Minnesota is using Gaia 3.1 to test their new Web Feature Server (WFS) - and to help support geospatial education efforts.

The LMIC WFS was established as part of the the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) Cooperative Agreement Program (CAP) and provides Administrative Boundary and Civil Divisions data for the state of Minnesota. Gaia 3.1 was also developed under the NSDI CAP.

Honey, Google is in the driveway again...

Photo courtesy of Allegheny County, PA

In another case of Google barreling up the driveway - Janet and George McKee were surprised to discover photos of their kids trampoline on Google Maps.

The McKees are the neighbors of the Borings, the couple suing Google over StreetView claiming they trespassed onto their property.

So where's all this heading? A European Union official gave a clue today when he warned Google to obey privacy laws.

Gaia brings Vietnam SDI and Microsoft Virtual Earth together

(I meant to post this a few weeks ago, sorry for the delay - Jeff)

We're pleased to report that Gaia 3 is helping Vietnam's Information Center of Natural Resources and Environment (CIRENet) bring SDI content together - especially WMS and Microsoft Virtual Earth.

The CIREN map service is based on OGC WMS and provides a way to view free spatial data from Vietnam and the international community.

This paper guides folks how to combine "Vietnam map online" with satellite images from Microsoft Virtual Earth and Yahoo! Maps using Gaia.

Gaia 3 was developed with CarbonTools PRO, an extension to Microsoft .NET Framework that supports advanced location content handling, mapping and sharing. Software developers can get the Gaia 3 source code by purchasing CarbonTools PRO.
